What are Electrophysiology Studies (EPS)?
Electrophysiology studies involve the insertion of thin, flexible catheters with electrodes into the heart through a vein, usually in the groin or neck. These electrodes measure the electrical signals in the heart and can stimulate different areas to assess how the heart responds.
EPS helps in:
- Diagnosing arrhythmias (irregular heartbeats).
- Determining the best treatment, such as medication, pacemaker, or catheter ablation.
- Evaluating the risk of sudden cardiac arrest.
