What is Pulmonary Valve Replacement?

The pulmonary valve is one of the four heart valves, responsible for controlling blood flow from the right ventricle to the pulmonary artery, which carries oxygen-poor blood to the lungs. When the pulmonary valve becomes narrowed (stenosis) or leaky (regurgitation) due to congenital defects, infections, or aging, a pulmonary valve replacement may be required to restore proper heart function.
