"Macrocare: Clear Agreements with Competitive Pricing Must be Established"
Abdallah Ebid, the CEO of the "Macrocare" medical tourism platform, emphasized the significant opportunities for Egypt to acquire a substantial share of the medical tourism market in the region. He commended the role of the accreditation and regulatory authorities in qualifying hospitals to meet the required standards for accommodating tourists.
In exclusive statements to Al-Mal newspaper on July 19, 2023, Ebid highlighted the importance of coordination between government entities and the private sector to regulate the influx of tourists and implement a unified mechanism with international medical insurance companies, particularly concerning medical service pricing.
He stressed the significance of gaining the trust of foreign medical insurance companies and establishing clear agreements with competitive pricing, similar to the medical tourism industry in India. Ebid also emphasized the need to focus on and market to African and Arab tourists, considering that many of these countries lack the required diagnostic tools for treatment. He suggested creating a specialized form to assess patients' conditions and overall health, along with registering their contact information to facilitate communication within a dedicated medical tourism system.
Furthermore, Ebid pointed out the possibility of developing specialized programs for oncology and surgical procedures, promoting them professionally to monitor their success rates. He emphasized the importance of involving all relevant parties to facilitate the process of attracting tourists to Egypt for medical purposes.
