Abdallah Ebid, CEO of the MacroCare platform for medical tourism services, said that it started with an investment volume of about $75,000, and he plans to attract a larger investment during the next year, especially after the tangible success achieved in a short period.
Ebid added, in an exclusive interview with Al-Mal, that the beginning was thinking of establishing an Egyptian platform for health care services and medical tourism that is suitable for the global digital transformation that the health sector is witnessing globally.
“Ebid” explained that the idea crystallized in the middle of 2021, as the Egyptian health care market witnessed a tremendous development since 2015 with the entry of modern, advanced hospitals into service, the presence of the latest devices, and diagnostic and therapeutic technologies, in addition to Egypt’s possession of medical expertise and doctors with the highest academic qualifications, and they have with international recognition in the field of healthcare.
Ebid referred to the decision to start implementing the platform to include the best 3% of doctors in Egypt, in addition to contracting with Egyptian centers and hospitals that have a good reputation and experience in patient care according to international standards, explaining that the platform provides the ability to learn more details about hospitals and their expertise. Doctors and their qualifications to make the decision to treat in Egypt according to that.
He revealed that a special form was prepared to identify the patient's condition, his general health condition, and his phone number to be recorded to facilitate communication, after which a trained team from "MacroCare" would communicate with the patient, and explain the treatment plan with the knowledge of our partners from the medical service providers in Egypt to discuss the possibilities of his treatment in Egypt. .
Ebid pointed out that after the patient’s approval, a treatment plan is prepared that is associated with the patient’s stay in Egypt. Accordingly, he obtains the estimated cost of the treatment, after which coordination begins to prepare the clinical examination papers with the doctors, perform the necessary examinations as soon as possible, and immediately start the medical procedure or surgical operation that he needs.
After traveling, Ebid emphasized the need for medical cases to be different for follow-up, stressing the provision of remote medical consultation services with the patient’s attending physician in case of need.
Macrocare has 3 primary goals
Ebid stated that Macrocare has 3 primary goals. The first is to introduce foreign patients to the capabilities and equipment of the health care sector in Egypt, to provide doctors' expertise commensurate with their scientific and international value, to attract attention to Egypt as a destination for medicine, and to provide medical tourism services.
Second: Increasing contracts with international companies and bodies, and international insurance companies to provide medical and treatment services to their clients at competitive prices, which makes choosing treatment in Egypt less expensive than treatment in Europe by up to 75%, even with the addition of the costs of comprehensive accommodation in Egypt.
Third: Examining the possibilities of receiving foreign doctors with international experience in Germany, England and the United States to transfer their expertise in Egypt through Egyptian hospitals according to the highest quality standards of health care provision.
Ebid: Contracting with a number of major hospitals, and we have 1,500 beds
Ebid confirmed that, in a short period of time, Macrocare was able to contract with major hospitals, bringing the number of beds to 1,500 ready to receive the patient, in addition to more than 2,000 doctors in various hospitals.

Regarding cooperation with government agencies, Ebid explained that at the beginning of November 2022, the Macrocare platform signed with Sheikh Zayed Specialized Hospital as one of the hospitals of the General Secretariat of the Ministry of Health, to start providing complex treatment services such as liver transplants, Tavi and bone marrow transplants, as well The platform seeks to increase agreements with the government sector and the Health Care Authority to open paths of cooperation in the field of health care and to bring foreign patients for treatment in Egypt.
He emphasized that Macrocare focuses on providing medical services in various specialties such as treating diseases of the brain, nerves and spine, blood diseases, heart diseases, urinary tract, eyes, skin, liver and kidneys, oncological and orthopedic surgeries, specializing in general surgery and pediatric surgeries, as well as all cosmetic surgeries
