Faculty of Medicine, Kasr Al-Ainy – Cairo University
Professor Dr. Yehia Salah El-Din is one of the leading figures in ophthalmology in Egypt and the Middle East. With extensive academic and clinical experience, he specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases for both adults and children, as well as performing advanced ophthalmic surgeries using the latest medical technologies.
As Professor and Head of the Ophthalmology Department at Kasr Al-Ainy Faculty of Medicine, Cairo University, Dr. Yehia combines academic excellence with daily clinical practice, ensuring that patients receive care based on the most up-to-date scientific guidelines and evidence-based protocols.
Comprehensive eye examinations for adults and children, including early detection and management of visual disorders, refractive errors, and complex ocular conditions. Special attention is given to early diagnosis in children to prevent long-term visual complications.
Dr. Yehia performs advanced refractive surgeries to correct myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism using state-of-the-art laser technologies. Each procedure is preceded by precise corneal assessment to ensure maximum safety and optimal visual outcomes.
These procedures include:
Femto LASIK for high-precision vision correction
Ultra LASIK for selected and special cases
Comprehensive corneal evaluation before surgery
Cataract treatment is performed using phacoemulsification (ultrasound fragmentation), one of the safest and most effective techniques. The cloudy natural lens is removed and replaced with an intraocular lens carefully selected according to the patient’s visual needs.
Services include:
Accurate preoperative measurements
Selection of appropriate intraocular lenses (monofocal or multifocal)
Careful postoperative follow-up to ensure visual stability
Management and treatment of complex retinal conditions, including:
Retinal detachment
Vitreous hemorrhage
Diabetic retinopathy and its complications
Macular edema
Treatment options include laser therapy, intravitreal injections, or microsurgical intervention depending on the condition and severity.
Diabetic eye disease is one of the leading causes of vision loss. Dr. Yehia focuses on early diagnosis using advanced imaging techniques such as fundus examination and OCT, followed by appropriate treatment to preserve vision and prevent disease progression.
Includes management of:
Keratoconus and corneal stabilization
Corneal infections and deformities
Implantation of intraocular lenses for patients unsuitable for laser correction
Treatment aims to reduce intraocular pressure and protect the optic nerve through:
Medical therapy
Laser procedures
Surgical intervention when necessary
Correction of eye misalignment in both children and adults after thorough evaluation of eye muscles, improving both visual function and cosmetic appearance.
Includes:
Surgical and thread eyelid lifting
Treatment of dark circles using fillers
Laser treatment for under-eye wrinkles
Removal of eyelid lesions and periocular masses
All procedures aim to enhance appearance while maintaining normal eye function.
Prescription of specialized medical contact lenses for complex cases, along with visual rehabilitation programs for patients with low vision to improve daily visual performance and quality of life.
Fundus examination
Optic nerve assessment
Corneal evaluation
Electroretinography (ERG)
Comprehensive retinal and vitreous assessment
