Prof. Dr. Kamil Yalçın Polat

Prof. Dr. Kamil Yalçın Polat is one of Turkey’s most distinguished names in organ transplantation and general surgery, with over 30 years of surgical excellence.
A graduate of Atatürk University Faculty of Medicine (1986), he ranked among the top students of his class and achieved the title of Professor in 2021.

Throughout his career, Prof. Polat trained at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York and served as a visiting surgeon at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, gaining extensive experience in multi-organ transplantation including liver, kidney, pancreas, and small intestine. His contributions have placed him among the pioneers of modern transplantation surgery worldwide.

He was the first in the world to perform a living donor liver transplant without using blood or blood products, and conducted the first successful domino transplant. He also carried out one of Europe’s first robotic-assisted living donor liver surgeries, setting new standards for precision and safety.
